The business valuation consultancy Brand Finance has just released their Global 500 brands list for the year 2018 and it seems that the US based e-commerce giant Amazon has just surpassed Google, Apple and Becomes the most valuable brand in the world.
Starting the journey as a online Book store, today Amazon has become the world’s largest internet business by both market capitalization and revenue. The e-commerce giant’s brand value increased by 42% year on year to a whopping US$150.8 billion.
Back in 2017, Amazon moved beyond brick and mortar retail business with the $13.7 billion acquisition of Whole Foods. Which was followed by the world’s first cashier-less retail store Amazon Go. Amazon’s valuation rapidly increased after its success towards cloud infrastructure and electronics devices. Currently amazon also moved toward digital business, it started providing music and video streaming services on its online platform.
While this year Apple is on the number 2 among top 500 most valuable brands in the world with brand value rebounding to US$146.3 billion after the 27% decline last year. And Google has dropped to the third position, with a 10% rise and now holds a brand value of $120.9 billion.
