Dish Brings Google Assistant Support to Set-top Boxes

This is an era of AI powered smart assistants, Dish has been working to add voice control support from last few years for their users. Today Dish has announced they’re going to add Google Assistant Support on set-top box in the upcoming days. It also includes launch of a new Dish voice remote which will let users control their Tvs using voice commands.

It’s the first time that Dish customers having a Hopper,joey or wally set-top box will be able to control TV using Google Assistant. It also comes with multiple international language support including English, Spanish, German etc.

Dish users who have a broadband connected DVR, Joey Client or a wally single tuner HD receiver, will be able to control the video experience such as navigate, pause ,rewind, play, fast forward using the voice commands after pairing their TV with their Google home speakers or with the assistant on their android smartphones. As an example, you can say “change channel to discovery”, the assistant will change the channel after recognizing your command. Similar you can use commands like “pause the video” or “play the video” according to your needs.

As per Dish this feature will be rolled out within next few months, while the company hasn’t mentioned any exact time about when it’ll arrive.
