Since Apple accepts the claims of slowing down older iPhones to avoid battery issues, Many Android OEMs have to face the question if they follow the same suit followed by apple and slows down older Phones.
Yesterday the folks at the verge asked few android OEMs including Google,LG,Motorola,Samsung and HTC if they throttles their devices performance as long as it gets old. While HTC and Motorola clearly stated that they don’t throttle the power of CPU and slows down older Devices.
Today Samsung and LG officially commented on the query about slowing down phones. Both of the company clearly states unlike apple they never compromises with their device’s performance as it gets old.
A spoke person of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd said,”Product quality has been and will always be Samsung Mobile’s top priority. We ensure extended battery life of Samsung mobile devices through multi-layer safety measures, which include software algorithms that govern the battery charging current and charging duration. We do not reduce CPU performance through software updates over the lifecycles of the phone.”
Also in an email to PhoneArena regarding the same question of if they slows down phones,LG claimed,”Never have, never will! We care what our customers think.”
It’s quite interesting while apple is facing class action lawsuits for compromising with iphone’s performance, Android smartphone manufacturers are taking this opportunity to boost their sales by claiming they don’t slow down phones unlike apple.
