Top Class Business Schools are Offering MBA programs Related to cryptocurrency

Last year, people have witnessed the tremendous growth of several cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Though in 2018, Bitcoin has lost its skyrocketing value as its priced dipped below $6500. Despite of sudden market crash, the popularity and craze about concurrency among people is growing day to day.

According to data from Pitchbook, Back in 2017, venture capital saw an 88% increase in blockchain investments, reaching at $911 million. Most of the recruiters of blockchain startups in these venture are looking for people having sufficient knowledge in blockchain and cryptocurrency. After seeing its increasing demand from students and as well as the corporate recruiters, some of top class business schools in the world including Stanford Graduate School of Business, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business are offering classes in digital currency and blockchain.

Stanford’s business school that’s ranked No.1 in the world is adding a new class named “Cryptocurrency” in its curriculum for MBA students starting from May. The class was introduced when a second year student, Itamar Orr sent a letter to professors and associates of the business school addressing that a crypto related course would be beneficial. He stated.“Many of us only discuss blockchain at our work places, but it makes a lot of sense to teach it. It will give many people a competitive advantage and will act as an extra hammer in their toolbox.” Stanford authority agreed and added the course into their curriculum structure. Currently more than 50 people on the waiting list for the class, as per the university site. Also Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania will soon start a new class for MBA students named, ‘Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and Distributed Ledger Technology’.

Susan Athey, professor at stanford at Stanford Business School will teach the newly introduced crypto classes. Susan is also a ripple board member, she said,“The Bitcoin prices in 2017 had everyone mesmerized. This has led people to go for studies to understand what’s going on.

Not only venture capital and cryptocurrency exchanges looking for people with a deep knowledge of blockchain. As per John Jacobs,McDonough’s executive director, most of the wall street firms want employees who poses subsequent knowledge and skills in cryptocurrency filed. He got many calls from recruiters saying “You need to train them. We need people to understand how to apply blockchain technology” – He further added.
